SEMA US is working with MAPS to perform FREE cataract surgeries for Syrian Refugees in Lebanon. Most refugees cannot pay the cost of performing the surgery in private hospitals, which can exceed 700 US dollars. This makes them vulnerable to severe visual impairment and even complete blindness in some cases, especially in elderly people who may have other chronic diseases. The operation, which has a success rate of more than 95%, helps prevent disease complications and avoids the additional burdens caused by these complications to the refugees and their community.
